My name is Allen Frank; I committed 26 years, providing logistical excellence for the steel industry.ArcelorMittal Columbus (now owned by Cleveland Cliffs), provides quality coated steel to the demanding needs of the automotive industry. The steel is hot-dip galvanized at our facility and dispatch every load to be shipped and stamped into critical automotive panels that are required for the mass production of many of the vehicles we all drive today.Specifically, my responsibilities have always entailed the support of the processes that are needed to deliver our product to market. In my industry, there are a few large customers, however each of those customers have a multitude of parts that require funding for a very exacting schedule. This industry has a constant demand for excellence, and little room for error, as do I.My current responsibilities include: * Management and Maintenance of the Transportation Management System (TMS) * Dispatched over 400,000 tons of steel annually via truck/rail * Inventory reconciliation * Conducted Investigations of non-compliant deliveries * Created friendly environment with the carrier base; aiding vendor retention, product expedites, and "last-minute" delivery needs. ArcelorMittal, a hot dip galvanizing facility, has approximately 150 employees – 100 USW bargained for employees and 50 management/staff exempt employees. I have daily, cross-departmental interaction with Customer Service, Quality, and Operations. The relationship between Customer Service, Quality, Operations and that which I am responsible for, Logistics (traffic), is tightly interwoven. While I have dedicated myself to my traffic/logistics responsibilities, I also maintain a high-level knowledge and appreciation for the other departments that must feed the inventory with which I must work.My goal is nothing less than 100% customer satisfaction.

I was promoted from a non-exempt employee to management. My new position had many of my prior responsibilities, however I had more authority with both the shop floor, our vendors and our customers.

I was hired as a non-management employee to arrange all the outbound freight (truck/rail) that left the facility. Ohio Kanpoh Steel was a steel processor and warehouse that primarily supplied product to the automotive industry both domestically and internationally. I both dispatched and physically operated the loading crane. I was personally responsible for rate negotiations between the carriers and Kanpoh.
