I work primarily on conservation easement acquisitions from the inquiry stage through to closing, and beyond into perpetual conservation easement stewardship.

In this role I provide support across Land Team duties, primarily completion of Baseline Documentation Reports, easement stewardship support, and easement acquisition support.

I oversaw eight public preserves, which include over 320 acres of diverse natural lands, both near-pristine and heavily impacted. This work included the development and execution of management plans for each property, including budgeting and support of related fundraising initiatives. To accomplish this work, I oversaw and trained several field staff, both regular and seasonal employees. I contributed to communications pieces and strategy around my department, because people do not support what they do not understand. I oversaw Legacy's Land Protection - Stewardship Committee, which communicates stewardship-related news and needs to Legacy's Board of Trustees. Outside my specific job duties, I participated actively in organization-wide work, such as strategic planning, and supported the Land Acquisition department through providing content expertise to conservation value identification/substantiation, conservation strategy, and development of Baseline Documentation Reports for all conservation easement projects.

Surveyed public lands along the shore of Lake Michigan gathering data on several species of newly-emergent non-native invasive plants under the federal Sustain Our Great Lakes (SOGL) grant. Utilized GPS and GIS technology for navigation and mapping. Managed and interpreted data to create summary reports for several organizations invested in the project.

Managed and implemented IPM program for 13 acres of greenhouse, including pest and disease diagnosis. Monitored water and media pH. Communicated findings weekly to owner and respective growers. Research projects including new plant trials, growth inhibitor and branching agent experiments, etc. Other trouble-shooting and odd jobs including painting and small building projects. Retail, propagation, plant care and shipping responsibilities.
