Engineering Manager
Responsible for investigating and delving into the cutting-edge technology and integrating the Active Safety Systems with Passive Safety Systems to create a complete total safety solution to OEMs. Active Safety System consists of sensors providing pre-crash warning signal to the Passive Safety System so that the occupants are in the optimum position during a crash. • Designing and Developing a Driver Monitor System (DMS) to detect driver’s fatigue and distraction by monitoring the gaze direction, eye closing frequency and duration using a camera and heart rate variation (HRV) to heuristically determine the driver’s state. The system also uses the face recognition to authentication the driver’s identification. • Using the stereo camera to measure the occupant classification, occupant detection, and body gesture detection, whose data will be passed over to the airbag ECU of the Passive Safety System to adjust an inflator profile of an air bag based upon a distance between a vehicle occupant and the airbag to enhance protection of the occupant. • Establishing the system performance objectives and ensure system operation to meet the objectives through structured component, sub-system, and system level test methodologies. • Analyzing existing vehicle architecture to determine interfaces necessary to support integration of existing and new vehicle subsystems and hardware. Developing communication and control interfaces to vehicle systems using CAN, Ethernet, and other communication protocols. • Directing a team to conduct the imaging light laboratory test and collect the sensor data for developing a better control algorithm. Managing to Source out the contract engineer service and manufacturing in China, Taiwan, and India. • Leading the design and development of new Active Safety features using Xilink’s Zedboard Zynq 7000 FPGA related to collision avoidance, collision mitigation, and driver protection optimization.
Sr. Test Engineer
Responsible for building the production systems and coordinating all Geophone/Hydrophone Sensor and Sentinel cable production activities at Sercel production facilities in Houston, British, and Singapore. Resolving daily production issues for China production facility including developing testing systems, productivity, and yield improvement. Building, testing, and commissioning new test systems for Geophone, Hydrophone, and Sentinel Cables. Developed cable test traceability using MSVS Lightswitch to provide the complete test data history. Set up Sercel Data Tracking System using SQL Server Replication Technology to record the data on the local computer and the central SQL Server database. Designed, developed, and built an Automated Bulk Cable Test System (SBCTS) using Rohde & Schwarz ZNB 8 (300KHz to 8 GHz) Vector Network Analyzer to test he telemetry of Sentinel Cable using S Parameters including attenuation, reflection, and crosstalk of high definition twisted pair wires. The actual impedance of VNA is 50 ohms single-ended, the impedance of sentinel cable is 128 ohms differential. The impedance mismatch is calculated and compensated by VNA math transform to accommodate the 128 ohms impedance. The system is an automated tester and its test limits and results are recorded in SQL Server database. Designed, developed, and built a P44 Hydrophone acoustic chamber system to measure the natural frequency, ac Impedance, damping, and coil resistance of Hydrophone sensors. This system is built with a custom made acoustic chamber. A sound wave is injected into the chamber to excite the hydrophone with NI data acquisition card to record, analyze, and determine if the acceptance of the UUT.Projects: Geophone Tester for Manufacturing, Bulk Cable Test system, Nautilus Transducer Test Systems for Element and Final Assembly, Automated Geophone Test Systems, Multi-Sensors Cable Test System, Data Tracking and Traceability System, and Cable Ballast Management System.
