For over a decade and a half I have served as General Counsel to Eastwood Homes and affiliates, an over $1B conglomerate of companies, based in Charlotte, North Carolina, and oversee all legal affairs for Georgia, North and South Carolina, and Virginia, as well as business dealings across the country and Caribbean. Eastwood is a regional home builder and developer in the Top 50 of the largest builders and developers nationally. Eastwood's affiliates include various national and international multi-family, commercial, manufacturing, insurance and captive insurance companies, and service companies (which I also serve as General Counsel). I am responsible for all aspects of strategic planning to include spearheading mergers and acquisitions, litigation, land acquisition and development (over 1200 land acquisitions at over $3.9 billion accomplished to date), built to rent projects, build on your lot business, condominiums, real estate transactions, contractor and vendor management, risk management, compliance, and human resources. I have developed special expertise in builder financing, project financing, land banking, land-light strategies, private equity, off balance sheet transactions, insurance (including risk transfer), warranty, and division and company start ups. In the last decade I have created numerous companies such as truss companies, title insurance companies, captive insurance companies, Build on Your Lot, development companies, mortgage joint ventures, insurance joint ventures, social media companies, and various other related businesses.I enjoy the business aspects (as much as the legal aspects) of growing companies and rewarding those that meaningfully contribute to mutual success - and treat others well in the process. Respect and accountability are my hallmarks.Prior to my tenure as General Counsel I was an Army JAG, Assistant US Attorney, and large law firm partner. I live periodically in Lake Wylie, South Carolina, near Boone, North Carolina, at the South Carolina coast or in Nashville, Tennessee. I was awarded 2016 solo General Counsel of the Year by the Charlotte Business Journal and the Association of Corporate Counsel.
