We teach them simple skills that will help them overcome this. These new skills will assist parents and children in becoming fluent at reading and spelling through developing the skill to “see” words in your minds eye – a skill all good readers and spellers have naturally. In addition they will develop improved concentration and motor skills through learning how to stabilise visual memory and clear your personal energy system. We offer a series of Pass Literacy On sessions where a parent and child can learn these techniques in a safe and confidential environment. Alternatively we deliver a Pass Literacy On Family Breakthrough Day which is a full day workshop for children and adults to learn these simple and highly effective techniques and practice them with their families. Each family can bring 2 children or alternatively a teacher may bring up to 2 students on the day. The Family Breakthrough Day allows parents and children to interact with other families who are experiencing similar challenges where everyone will learn new and easy to use skills in a supportive and inclusive environment. CABLE is a Garda Youth Diversion project managed by Foróige. We work with young people who are in trouble with the law (or who have the potential to be) and aim to divert them from becoming engaged with the court system. This is achieved through a structured programme which will increase educational attainment, reduce reoffending, increase personal skills base and challenge anti-social behaviour.

Following the success of this programme in Tallaght, I moved into the Blanchardstown community and designed, delivered and evaluated the Peer Drugs Awareness Programme for all schools in the Blanchardstown area. This involved meeting with schools, young people, parents, local Drugs Task Force and other professionals in the sector and developing a programme to meet local needs. In this role, I ran a residential house for children with learning difficulties. This included managing household budgets, designing develoment programmes and all manner of household duties (inc. cleaning. cooking etc.)
