Provide social, academic, and therapeutic support and care for 7 year old boy with Autism 35 hours each week. Attend Speech, Occupational Therapy and Applied Behavior Analysis Therapy sessions collaborating with the therapists to create interventions for the child’s specific needs. Have practiced over 1000 hours of Applied Behavior Analysis interventions.Advise parents on best practices and demonstrate how to incorporate therapy programs into daily life. Communicate daily with teacher and class aide to explain facets of the child’s way of thinking and behaviors to enable support for him at school to the best of their ability.

I work with one particular child on a daily basis who has a rare disease called Nemaline Myopathy which results in all over skeletal muscle weakness. This child has difficulty walking, breathing, eating, speaking and completing everyday tasks independently. In my job I evaluate physical challenges for the child with Nemaline Myopathy and encourage her growth by allowing her to complete tasks in a safe and secure environment.Provide physical and social support at school and manipulate the environment so she can interact with her peers independently and safely. Collaborate with teachers offering support to them and the other children whenever necessary utilizing the school’s principles and philosophy.

Teaching preschoolers and toddlers about the world of tinkering! As part of the makers movement I use Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (S.T.E.A.M) to help shape the minds of children and teach them how to use critical thinking.
