• Primary role as OR surgical first assist for group of 9 orthopedic surgeons across all subspecialties.• Expanded knowledge/experience as first assist in cases including: Total joint arthroplasties: TKA (total, partial and MAKO robotic-arm assisted); THA (anterior and posterior approaches, MAKO robotic-arm assisted) TSA, RSTA, TEA, TAA; ACL and complex multi-ligament reconstructions: (responsible for independently preparing autografts and allografts); Shoulder/hip disarticulations and amputations (above, through and below knee, above and below elbow, finger, toe, etc.); Shoulder and knee arthroscopies; ORIFs, external fixation, etc.• Actively involved with operative room set-up, patient positioning, draping and collaboration with reps to maximize surgeon efficiency.• Fracture table proficiency: Ensured proper patient positioning, traction application and fracture reduction with confirmation via radiographs.• Proficiency in deep and superficial wound closure, brace, splint and cast application (including IPOP cast application), digital nerve blocks, K-wire insertion/removal.• Responsible for completion of all pre-op H&Ps, pre-operative and post-operative orders, formulation of appropriate discharge plans/dispositions/individual patient instructions/discharge summaries. • ER consults and inpatient/post-op rounds.• Orthopedic trauma surgery evening and weekend on-call coverage.
