Insect Trapper Feb 2014-November 2014Trapped nurseries for harmul pests including the Glassy Winged Sharpshooter and Light Brown Apple Moth. Identified insects and host plants.

Use extensive knowledge of San Diego wildlife to lead educational hikes for the public (ranging in age from elementary kids to highschoolers, to adults, often mixed groups). Present relatable, understandable information about local plant and animal species, their natural history, conservation status, and historical significance and use.

Developing a citizen science biological monitoring program in the San Dieguito River Valley watershed. I am organizing the insect trapping portion of the project, selecting and visiting filed sites, creating GIS maps and a research database for the project.

Managed apiary of approx. 30 honey bee hives, monitored bee health, fed and cared for bees. Maintained apiary through weed control, equipment repair, carpentry as needed.
