As Director of Business Services, I plan and develop policy for the division; develop and manage the operational budget; coordinate division efforts with the Information Technology and Communications Divisions to increase public awareness on business services-related issues; coordinate with the Legal Division on legal issues impacting the business services division; and coordinate with the Legislative Division on related legislative issues. Organize, direct and supervise activities related to the division including, but not limited to: personnel-related actions and flow of work. Design and schedule programs to enhance operation of the division. Represent the Secretary of State at conferences, presentations and committee meetings to relay information from the division.

I served as counsel to the Business Services Division; provided legal advice and consultation on legal issues and concerns including creation or dissolution of legal entities, mergers, business trusts and Uniform Commercial Code filings.I provide interpretation of statutory filing requirements to secretary of state staff, service companies, attorneys, government officials and general public.I reviewed and edited drafts of business procedures by managers to business entities, attorneys and general public regarding legal issues which affect filings of documents required to be filed with the office for registration.I drafted, reviewed and negotiated contracts and other legal documents for the agency.
