I work as a delivery driver who transports medical supplies to private customers as well as to several Yale hospitals in Connecticut.

I carefully came to the conclusion that I was burnt out from the service industry. Being an essential worker in retail all throughout the first year and a half of the pandemic took a toll on my mental and physical well-being. During my pause from the traditional 9-5 retail job I was so accustomed to, I delved deep into delivery driver roles. I first started supplementing my income with deliveries back in the winter of 2019. That’s when I witnessed firsthand just how freeing it felt to be my “own boss/ be self-employed.” Being a 1099 independent contractor has provided me with so much peace of mind. I sincerely stand by my decision to part ways with my original cashier position now. Peace of mind is all I could ever ask for from a job :)
