About Allison Getch
I desired to be a nurse since I was in fourth grade when my mother was diagnosed with stage 3 melanoma skin cancer and I helped with her basic activities of daily living. She was then diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma skin cancer, with tumors metastasizing to her brain and she eventually lost the battle against cancer. My mother told me during this time before passing that I would be a great nurse one day and after seeing the care and compassion that the nurses gave to my mother and our entire family, I dreamt of becoming a nurse. I am a hard working, organized, and detail oriented employee. I developed the ability to manage time effectively when I was in college working as a CNA at a nearby hospital while being a Division 1 scholarship track athlete and studying nursing simultaneously. Since then, I have applied these skills in my nursing career, from being the only nurse on shift responsible for 39 residents, to being the only nurse at the elementary school overseeing approximately 530 students each school year, as a few examples. With having such a diverse work experience, it has required me to always continue to learn and adapt in each position that I’ve held to be the best nurse I can be, which I believe is one of my strengths. I am proficient with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Office, along with using a variety of different paper charting and electronic charting systems that I have had to learn with each job. My ambition is to be an excellent nurse. To me such a nurse is team oriented, competent, compassionate, and able to critically think. I always give my best effort for my employer, each person, and family that I come across in my day. My view is to treat each person that I work with as I would want a loved one to be treated and cared for in their time of need, with respect, care, patience and excellence in nursing technical skills.
