The moment we stop being curious, innovation stops as well. As a leader, I spend a lot of time with my teams on staying curious, with positive intent, asking “why?”. It is a simple three letter word, but the more you ask it, the more layers that get peeled back to really understand, past to present and paving a way to the future. When it comes to solving problems, I like to bring experts to the table. When decisions are made in a vacuum, a perspective if often missed that results in downstream adjustments, typically post launch, this can become disruptive to the business. Building strong and effective relationships means we can have hard conversations to solve hard problems and get to a more refined solution faster. I have led large teams and I have led small focused teams. I’ve managed on-site, remote, multi–site local teams as well as regional, covering 6 locations in 4 states. I balance the 50,000 foot view with what is happening on the ground, this balance creates more informed decision making and has resulted in more engaged teams due to the time I spend at each level.
