The editor and I worked together to redesign IGACnews in a more accessible, contemporary style and to highlight important program information. We also worked together to develop logos for several international atmospheric chemistry research groups.

The Adventure Attraction industry is growing rapidly. Strategic Adventures needed a designer of feasibility studies and business plans for nationwide clients whose businesses include zipline and canopy tours, aerial adventure parks and challenge courses.

I work closely with the art director on layout and production of several publications including Boulder Magazine and custom publications, and advertising and event marketing design and production.

University Parent has meticulously designed templates for their digest-sized magazines for the parents of orienting students. Within those parameters, I layout guides using the individual college’s graphic standards and supplied art.

The team at Rock Powered Life wanted a logo to represent the energy of water-rock interactions on Earth, and potentially Mars and Europa.

Member of a small team that grew association magazine advertising revenue nearly tenfold in 5 years by focusing on a consumer audience.Solar Today was due for a design and editorial update. I redesigned the magazine logo to be easily read on the newsstand behind other publications. Before redesigning the page elements, I developed a design brief with questions for the nonprofit board members, the editorial and sales staff, and considered input from a recent reader survey to inform design decisions. Our team won several awards for design and editorial excellence.The magazine provided support for the annual trade show and national solar tour as well as professional and consumer outreach. Annually, I produced a comprehensive media kit, house ads, a special issue and B2B directory, and marketing collateral in addition to 8 issues of Solar Today.

I was responsible for catalog layout and production for three titles including location and studio photo shoots of covers and products. I gained experience working with marketing staff, corporate graphic standards and an asset management database. - Real Goods Solar catalog, a print hardware store for residential solar enthusiasts; - Inner Balance catalog, clothing and products for mid-life women; - Fish Crane catalog, clothing and products for yoga professionals.I also enjoyed working with executives to produce presentation slides for financial roadshows, and with a copywriter to create a marketing brochure targeted to California residential solar consumers.

Natural Business Communications had a beautiful magazine designed by Epicenter Creative and, anticipating rapid growth, hired me as in-house art director to produce LOHAS Journal* and Natural Business newsletter and collateral materials.*Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability

The first challenge at Boulder County Business Report was to establish an in-house production department to enable editors, writers, and sales reps to respond efficiently to the fast-moving business environment in Boulder County. I worked with the owners to determine needs, schedules and budgets and we transitioned from outsourced production to in-house in 6 weeks. Later, I managed the production transition from monthly to bi-weekly publication. As a bi-weekly, we had to work even more efficiently so I developed streamlined workflow systems for production of editorial and advertising design.Highlights include award-winning redesign of business newspaper and inaugural design of several B2B directories.

I was hired to assist the art director on the Grizzlies hockey magazine. When the art director needed extended family leave I stepped up to manage the magazine design and production. I also assisted with general agency advertising and graphic design.

I worked with editors and designers on layout, design and production of three titles for New Hope Communications (now New Hope Natural Media): Expansion Management magazine, Natural Foods Merchandiser and Delicious! magazine. Other responsibilities included newsletter design, graphic design, food styling, studio photo shoots, assistance at national trade shows and training designers.
