Based on his previous research in Toronto, Ontario (in which results indicated that men are more prone to handle stress poorly and therefore have an increased risk for negative chronic disease outcomes), the research I assisted in conducting included a literature review and a submission for a… Show more I had the opportunity to work with my advisor Dr. Ketan Shankardass on a research project titled, Stress and Coping Differences Between Men and Women Leading to Negative Chronic Disease Outcomes. Based on his previous research in Toronto, Ontario (in which results indicated that men are more prone to handle stress poorly and therefore have an increased risk for negative chronic disease outcomes), the research I assisted in conducting included a literature review and a submission for a peer-review journal publication. Collectively, determining five points within the stress process that may differ based on gender: perception, general response, physiological response, behavioural response and accessing resources.
