My professional goal is to transform the preservation of cells. I have created and offered professional short courses on preservation to help people who use preservation understand scientific principles and best practices. That experience inspired me to write a book entitled, "Preservation of cells: a practical manual". My research has involved developing new DMSO-free methods of preserving cells. Mimicking nature, my lab developed a method of preserving cells using sugars, sugar alcohols and amino acids and we have applied this technology to a variety of cell types. This experience led me to found Evia Bio so that we can move this technology from research to practice.
