Manages the Center for Marine Biodiversity and Conservation (CMBC) administration, planning, fiscal oversight, policy development, marketing, and external relations. Helps guide the strategy and programming of CMBC. Builds and maintains professional connections with collaborators and collaborating organizations; coordinates and assists with development of plans for the Center's educational and research missions.

The Center for Marine Biodiversity and Conservation (CMBC) at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UC San Diego, integrates biological, physical, and social science with educational approaches to maintain the integrity of ocean ecosystems and manage their use in the face of rapid and inevitable global change. As Operations Coordinators, I support the CMBC Director and participating faculty with implementation of short- and long-term strategic plans, budget and finance, external relations, and building partnerships. I also coordinate the Program for Interdisciplinary Environmental Research (PIER) for graduate students from departments across UC San Diego campus.

Worked with the Government Relations office to engage Federal and California policy makers, including elected officials and agency partners, with Scripps Oceanography's research. Supported ongoing engagement efforts and developed program summaries, GIS maps, and other outreach products.

At the intersection of climate and policy, I supported OPC's Climate Program with a focus on sea level rise, ocean acidification, and emerging impacts on fisheries and marine protected areas. Projects I worked on include: the new Strategic Plan to Protect California's Coast and Ocean: 2020-2025, managing research grants, drafting policy documents, organizing stakeholder meetings, and working with partner agencies and groups to develop a communications strategy for state efforts to combat sea level rise.

Worked in an administrative/logistics role on a project for Kate Wing, K|W Consulting, and the Net Gains Alliance to facilitate discussion around use of electronic monitoring and data pathways used in U.S. fisheries. Coordinated conference calls, tracked tasks, updated budget items, acted as liaison with venue, and helped the team with outreach and communications for the event. Supported a far-flung team, including NGO, foundation, and private consultant entities.

Coordinated course with program staff; mentored students and graded assignments; provided curriculum and logistic support; communicated frequently with Scripps faculty and guest lecturers.

Fulfilled multiple contracts with the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History - Department of Education and Outreach - to provide administrative and design services to the Youth and School Programs office. Projects at NMNH supported youth who were first generation college-bound and/or from underrepresented minority groups in the sciences. These include: YES! (Youth Engagement Through Science), Q?Crew youth volunteers, "Making Sense" Art-Science Workshops, and "Field Trip Days sponsored by Google" for Title I students in the Washington D.C. school system.Services provided include: design, production, and ordering of participant materials, flyers, and signs; arrangement of program logistics for group visits; program application processing and applicant screening; as well as program development and evaluation.

Managed weekend operations, including answering visitor questions, assisting with programs and animal care. Designed interpretive panels for a honeybee hive.

Supported exhibit docents and education programs; completed a docent guide for the Natural History Exhibit building that integrated existing exhibit elements with new exhibit interpretation, including strategic framing techniques in relation to the new Climate Change exhibit; collaborated with teaching partner and local dive shop to develop and execute a new snorkeling experience; helped coordinate volunteers and materials for an event at a major local festival.

Developed and maintained exhibits, collections, and program materials for the Natural History Exhibit building, including content curation and creation of messaging for increased visitor engagement; co-planned and led formal volunteer trainings, orientations, and recognition events in addition to coordinating, supervising, and managing various volunteer activities; coordinated and taught numerous and diverse types of environmental education programs in the classroom and in the field including school programs and summer camps.

Fostered an appreciation of, and a commitment to, the natural world in children and adults through workshops, hikes, arts and crafts, and song. Worked with other staff members to plan, prepare, and execute activities while completing individual tasks in the infirmary, kitchen, etc.
