Genome sequencing and extensive mouse handling through weigh & feeds, NMR, and intraperitoneal glucose tolerance tests (IPGTT).

Worked in Dr. Martin Wiedmann's lab in the Food Safety Laboratory and Milk Quality Improvement Program. Assisted with general lab maintenance, media preparation, and cell culturing.

Interned in Dr. Krishnan Padmanabhan’s lab. Conducted anatomy and histology experiments to determine neuronal connectivity in viral retrograde-traced mouse brains. Duties included handling mice, sectioning brains, creating MATLAB code for image manipulation, and reconstructing images into 3D connectivity models using my MATLAB code.

Worked in Dr. John Parker's lab in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology. Assisted with experiments to investigate the role of a viral nonstructural protein in recruiting translation initiation factors. Prepared recombinant mutant reoviruses using an established 4 or 8 plasmid reverse genetics system. Learned how to perform Western blots, plaque assays, plasmid purification, work with SnapGene software, and continued to perform gel electrophoresis. Also helped with general lab chores.
