About Allison Payne

The only interest I have in local television news going forward is producing special reports on topics I believe the people of the Chicago area need to know about. Beyond that, I am looking for an investor to finance the production of documentaries. There are so many stories that mainstream television ignores because the content is out of their comfort zone . Leaders in the Chicago business community and beyond want to finance that kind of work. I'm just waiting for one of them to roll the dice and trust me to tell the story.

    My production company allows me the freedom to pursue a variety of projects. I want to produce videos for corporate websites. Video is so much more compelling than reading the company's story.I also want to produce videos on the life story of the company CEO. Most CEO's are honored by the community groups their companies support. Then they put together a basic video for the annual fundraiser dinner. My clients would have their life story ready to go, and it would stand out because I put a my special touch on every story to make it so interesting people can't stop watching! Finally, I hope to continue producing stories on a freelance basis.

Beyond serving as an anchor, I patiently watched and studied the best producers in the newsroom, and over the years, I learned how to report. Disciplining myself to learn how to put together a special report was important because I wanted the credibility that comes with being known as a reporter, too.

    I started at WNWO in Toledo as an intern. The station was known for using interns as reporters to save money. Most students were too embarassed to have this station on their resume. With the opportunity to do real reporting and appear on the air, I was not ashamed. My decision paid off! Within months, WNWO hired me as a full time reporter and quickly moved me up to the anchor desk. A few weeks later, I got a call from a station in Saginaw looking for a main anchor. Bye Bye Ohio
