Ally Purcell earned a bachelor’s degree summa cum laude in English and creative writing at the University of Arizona. As an undergraduate, she held internships at University of Arizona Press and Make Way for Books, a nonprofit organization dedicated to early childhood literacy, where she fell in love with publishing. Her job as a communications assistant with University of Arizona Global, devoted to promoting study abroad, immersed her in copywriting and social media. Upon graduating Ally was an editorial assistant at Bright Learning Press. Then, after completing the Columbia Publishing Course in the summer of 2021, she was an editorial intern at Pegasus Books and was later offered an editorial assistant position with the same company.
