Member of the founding committee for this organization designed to prevent and break the cycle of child abuse. Served on and chaired its Board of Directors and became Executive Director. Increased annual revenue from $30,000 to $320,000. Managed a $400,000 budget. ♦ Oversaw the operation of Hallelujah House, a respite care facility for abused children. ♦ Coordinated houseparent responsibilities and vacancies with various County Departments of Social Service and additional community family service agencies. ♦ Implemented the Child Abuse Reduction effort, a 16 week program for second graders in city schools, taught by uniformed law enforcement officers. ♦ Coordinated and implemented the Shaken Baby Syndrome Project with area hospitals and family service agencies to raise awareness and educate parents to prevent child abuse. ♦ Organized special events programs, wrote grants, and solicited major donors resulting in gifts ranging from $100 to $50,000.

Created and administered individual education plans for sixteen trainable and educable mentally handicapped students ranging in age from 12 to 21 years. ♦ Created in-school store where students sold handmade gifts. ♦ Tutored learning disabled elementary age students. ♦ Organized participation of families in local and state Special Olympics.
