As an ET & Cryo Technician, I am responsible for new tasks such as performing sperm and embryo cryopreservation, thawing sperm and embryos used for IVF or embryo transfers, and performing embryo transfers in pseudo-pregnant mice and rats. To complete these tasks, I must also maintain all necessary logs, paperwork, and reports for cryopreservation of sperm and embryos, perform control checks on cryopreservation runs, prepare anesthesia and track controlled substances used for live recovery surgeries, and count and prepare embryos created for transfer to the ET lab at the Gnotobiotics site. In my position, some other things I am responsible for include: continuous inventory of all cryopreserved material including material split with the Albany site, collecting tissues and organs upon customer request, and preparing and inject hormones necessary to super-ovulate donor mice and rats.

As an Embryology Laboratory Assistant, I am responsible for maintaining the laboratory’s efficiency and effectiveness. In this role, I prepare weekly medias for use during IVF processes and test medias to approve their use by following protocols outlined in SOPs. Additionally, I prepare daily IVF labels, medias, and dishes for next day IVF including wash dishes, female (fresh and frozen IVF) media and dishes, and male dishes. I am also responsible for performing general laboratory maintenance, such as instrument temperature checks and calibration, washing and sterilizing surgical tools and glassware via autoclaving, monitoring supply inventory, and ordering supplies. I also aid in various laboratory processes throughout the day such as euthanizing, harvesting, and processing reproductive organs from both male and female donors, counting and moving embryos at different cell stages, and identifying poor embryo morphology. I also prepare labels, tissue collection vials, and straws for sperm and/or embryo cryopreservation. Finally, I utilize Animal Master to record IVF digital donor collection and utilize MiceAge to aid the lab in maintaining an accurate cryopreservation inventory.

As an Embryology Services Technician at Taconic Biosciences, I am responsible for ensuring high standards of animal welfare through proper documentation, following standard procedures, and reporting inhumane treatment of animals. I also ensure animal welfare personally by maintaining a clean work environment, supplying animals with feed, water, and housing, and monitoring their behaviors. In this position, I also must harvest reproductive organs, genotype animals, care for surgically modified animals, determine the pregnancy status of animals, and perform hormonal injections according to a determined schedule. Additionally, I utilize databases such as Taconic’s TAP ERP system and Animal Master to ensure each animal is able to be tracked and identified throughout its time at our site.

As the bookkeeping assistant, some of the duties I was responsible for included: receiving customers' checks or payments towards existing and past due invoices utilizing TAMS, applying customer's checks towards specified or oldest invoices utilizing TAMS, remotely depositing checks after application, coordinating with the store owner to ensure the cash drawer was correct and set up for the next business day, entering received bills and paying bills in Quickbooks, writing checks from specific business accounts to be signed by the store owner, and maintaining an orderly filing system.

As a peer tutor at the Writing Center, I worked to provide high-quality, one-on-one tutoring for undergraduate or graduate students in any step of the writing process, for all subjects or purposes. In this position, I also collaborated with other peer tutors to develop and execute projects which served to improve the Writing Center or advertised our services to the campus community. I also furthered my own knowledge and skills by attending a weekly practicum where the program director helped us develop new tactics or techniques for tutoring, we discussed assignments regarding the English language, and peer tutors could discussed problems they were experiencing before collaboratively brainstorming potential solutions.

As a writing fellow at the University of New Haven Writing Center, I worked with a professor at the University to ensure the students in his class were familiar with the Writing Center as a resource and felt comfortable in the writing process. In this position, I specifically worked with English language-learning students. In order to ensure they were comfortable with writing and the Writing Center, I held events where students could become familiar with tutors, attended their classes and participated in discussions and communicated with the professor to see what his students needed the most help on. Finally, when having appointments with these students at the Writing Center, I worked with them on assignments so that they could practice their written English, but also had conversations or prompted them to read aloud so they could practice spoken English.

In this position I helped freshman Honors students enrolled in the Honors Program become integrated with campus life and ease the transition from high school to college. I also served as a role model to these students while providing assistance, support, and encouragement.

In this position I worked efficiently, both with coworkers and independently, to ensure customer satisfaction when preparing and serving snacks, food, or drinks, or working the register at the theater. I was also required to ensure the cleanliness of the theater between film showings in the screen rooms and the lobby or cafe areas. Additionally, I transported money both to and from the local bank, resolved conflict with customers regarding their experiences, and performed any other tasks required by the management to ensure the success of the theater.
