In each of my operations positions, I have served as a technical and strategic authority, facilitating change, elevating collaboration, and assuring program success, often through implementation of the Agile way of working. My colleagues report that my contributions result in better financial and resource modeling, more strategic goal attainment, and better alignment to organizational goals.My teams and colleagues believe I am a strategic leader partly due to my commitment to Fidelity as a company over two decades but also because I frequently volunteer to mentor new associates and to lead teams. In other words, I am a willing partner and collaborator both within the Scrum Master community and across functional lines, because my colleagues know that I see them as more than their job--I truly care about them individually and holistically. This consistent approach to relationship building has enabled me to create mutual trust and given me the social capital to invite their input and their assistance when cooperating will clearly create better outcomes.As much as my professional career has centered on my contributions and commitment to Fidelity, I also have started a book club (decade-plus strong), coached kids’ soccer, and made the contestant pool for “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.” In other words, in all aspects of my life, I do not stagnate and I am always excited for the next challenge. Building on my prior experience as an Agile Scrum Master, I promoted the agile strategy for a rapidly growing IT program that nearly quadrupled to 400+ resources by the end of 2021. My own position was very broad and touched all aspects of the program, from KPIs to planning to on-the-ground Agile transformation.To mature the organization into the Agile way of working, I proposed and delivered a division-level approach for the Platform Engineering portfolio, which itself represented a portfolio of 10 teams. Connecting with the IT teams and their internal leaders matured our Agile journey and enabled us to prioritize and organize our data health and operations for scenario building and budget management in a new way. We thus applied the principles of Agile transformation to Cloud and locally hosted technologies.Also, as a Scrum Master, I inspired the teams understand the value of a true return to vital Agile processes. The Agile Maturity Plan we put into place illuminated dependencies, controlled our costs, and measurably improved our communication, collaboration, capacities, and recordkeeping, as revealed by our Agile Health Assessment surveys. Overall, processes smoothed out, and the quarterly reviews showed the benefits of more powerful controls and unified trajectories.The Agile journey became my centralizing principle in the organization, and I was proud to share my knowledge and leadership with my colleagues and to mentor new Scrum Masters as well. I pioneered our company’s Scrum Master Community of Practice, which gave us a safe space to discuss our challenges and celebrate our successes. By 2016, I became the director of program management in the same group for which I had been leading project management. From this broader perspective, I could see that we clearly needed to improve our overall operational and financial structures to make our entire delivery team more efficient. I put together broad financial and operational plans into repeatable strategic processes. At the same time, I initiated certification as an Agile Scrum Master to transform our way of thinking into a true Agile process as well as ensure we worked within a capacity-based model. Through strong communication and emotionally intelligent conversations, I brought along our chapter and squad leaders. These relationships gave us the platform to make sustainable change.My most impactful project during this almost two-year period was development of a model to analyze and support more than 2,000 resources, which was our budget’s largest line item. To capture all the data was challenging; however, once we had all of the information in place, we had powerful accuracy and compatibility across teams, and the model became relatively straightforward to update. This streamlining and consolidation across silos encouraged the planners to understand how best to predict and model future needs and to account for our largest expenses.As always, I relied on the best of my cross-functional relationships to ensure we controlled our costs effectively. In one case, for example, I collaborated with our procurement team to standardized software license renewals and save significantly on an expense in the tens of millions of dollars.

As with my earlier vice president position, I was balancing operational and budgetary support for all of our program managers. Focusing largely on financial accountability for the team, I helped them manage costs related to staffing. In doing so, they learned new skills and accountable behaviors.We organized staffing projections and models, managed our workforce planning, and made sure our other budgetary items were in alignment to our overall goals. This was especially important because our group was growing so fast. Through coaching senior members of our teams to own their own budgetary processes for each month's budget. Many of the managers had never done budget forecasting before, so I stepped in to mentor them on devising and maximizing their resources.As well, I strove to look at our budgets across our projects to make sure that we were using our resources effectively. One of the ways I contributed to reducing costs and ensuring project continuity was through development of master service agreements with various vendors. We avoided duplication of efforts while creating positive negotiating positions with our partners.
