Condeelis and Craig BranchStromal cells in the tumor microenvironment play a leading role in tumor progression including tumor cell invasion and intravasation. Tumor associated macrophages on blood vessels have been shown to be present at sites of tumor cell intravasation. My research focuses on the functional role of perivascular macrophages in tumor cell invasion and dissemination into circulation using high-resolution multiphoton-based live animal imaging techniques. These techniques allow for a detailed examination of multi-cellular interaction dynamics in real time to uncover previously undetected cellular processes. Developed skills in:Multiphoton-based intravital imaging, rodent survival surgery, immunofluorescence, image processing in ImageJ and in vivo MRI.
