I was responsible for the implementation and management of a comprehensive, risk-based privacy program, working across a variety of disciplines and time zones to ensure compliance with applicable privacy law, including, but not limited to, GDPR, CCPA and PIPEDA, for our corporate and retail travel brands. I oversaw a team who mapped all business processes and applications which process personal data not only to ensure regulatory compliance, but to create a culture of compliance. I supported day-to-day business operations with suggestions for process improvement and responded directly customer questions or concerns. I ran investigations of potential data breaches originating in the Americas and used those learnings to keep improving the privacy program. I drafted and reviewed related policies, contracts and questionnaire responses as well as prepared and conducted privacy trainings.

I drafted, reviewed and negotiated a variety of complex telecommunications contracts.

I was responsible for supporting global operations in the areas of finance / tax / treasury, corporate governance, litigation, real estate, commercial contracts and compliance. I was the point person in the legal department for all finance and treasury transactions and counseled senior management on corporate development, compliance and day-to-day business issues. I also managed global corporate governance, overseeing a senior paralegal. In addition, I managed global litigation. Lastly, I managed data privacy and records retention compliance, most recently focusing on GDPR and electronic records retention programs.

I was primarily responsible for supporting RCN's Business Services and Finance Groups and provided ancillary support for two affiliates of RCN, Grande Communications and Choice Cable. I drafted, reviewed and negotiated commercial, services, and intellectual property licensing agreements. I managed class action and intellectual property litigation as well as counseled senior management on general corporate, regulatory compliance and day-to-day business issues. I designed and implemented a Record Management Program as required by PCI DSS. I also advised on marketing matters such as sweepstakes. Lastly, I resolved human resources and employment matters.

I drafted, reviewed and negotiated commercial loan documents, municipal bond documents and a variety of business contracts and managed sophisitcated transactions on a day-to-day basis through to closing. I also counseled non-profit and private institutions on general corporate matters and counseled insurance companies, banks and other financial institutions on regulatory compliance matters.

I drafted, reviewed and negotiated documentation and conducted due diligence for secured lending, venture capital and real estate financing transactions. I also counseled banks and other financial institutions on regulatory compliance matters.

I researched treaties, statutes and United Nations and G8 resolutions, European Union law, and domestic and international legal trends and prepared briefing materials for Government officials’ trips abroad. I also facilitated incoming and outgoing requests for extradition and mutual legal assistance.
