Working alongside Drs. Eisenberg and Gold was been an honor. I was employee #2 back in 2013 (we now have ~ 1,000 team members) and was focused on opening The Recovery Village in Umatilla, the first treatment center we opened. We saw a huge need to expand so two years later we opened three more centers, including one for adolescents struggling with addiction. We’ve continued to scale ever since and now have 10 centers with many more to come. FounderHelping Other People Eat Dec 2001 - Jan 2020Orlando, Fl, UsHelping Other People Eat (HOPE) was founded in 2001 after founder, Allison Walsh, battled with bulimia and anorexia. Recognizing a significant need for support resources in Florida, Allison aimed to prevent others from enduring similar struggles and to provide resources, direction, and comfort to those in need. Thanks to the generosity and support of the community, HOPE has achieved remarkable milestones. Since 2001, HOPE has personally connected with over 100,000 individuals and has been featured on both national and local television shows, as well as in print media across the country.Through various awareness campaigns, volunteers have collected over 25,000 pairs of jeans, donating them to people in need across Florida while encouraging others to "be comfortable in their genes." In 2010, HOPE launched the Get R.E.A.L. Program, promoting "Realistic Expectations and Attitudes for Life." This program was delivered free of charge to over 7,000 schools, legislative offices, and community health organizations in Florida. In 2012, Volume 2 was distributed to every college and university in the country. In 2013, HOPE collaborated with Blue Horizon Eating Disorder Services to create "Eating Disorder Current Concepts," a program available online and through a free mobile app on iTunes and GooglePlay. The organization has actively lobbied in Tallahassee and Washington D.C. for appropriate funding and support of eating disorder-related legislation. HOPE continued to offer scholarship assistance to those struggling and, in 2017, partnered with the Alliance for Eating Disorders Awareness and EDNCF to create free clinician-led support groups in Orlando. HOPE merged with the National Alliance for Eating Disorders where Allison currently serves on the board. -
