During my time at EDSS, Ely Wireless, a related telecommunications retail company was launched. I served as the Director of Marketing, supporting the launch of several new stores from the early planning phase, land acquisition, identifying retail talent, supporting the development of the stores for launch, and then creating the brand logo, business plan, website, the store social media pages for Twitter and Facebook, setting up templates and connecting with store managers, and preparing monthly/quarterly ads following national brand standards.

As part of EDSS, I was tasked to support investment in an app development company. An amazing app developer, Malcolm Parrish, created the Absentee Management app to help management get notified of absences before the work shift begins. As a mentor specializing in start-up businesses and marketing, I provided guidance on business development, brand creation, website creation, and client relationship management. Although this particular app & company, has taken other forms since, I recommend Malcolm and his App Development company, 7Mile Apps.

As a part of EDSS, I was tasked with overseeing and later developing a lighting supply company and website that housed thousands of lighting products and accessories. I developed the business plan, the website layout, and structure of the product organization. Initially, we worked with a website development company that began to build the site in Drupal. Eventually, I took over organizing and adding products and their data, in addition to developing the returns policy, shipping policies, privacy policy, about us, common descriptions, frequently asked questions and related blog. Due to the expense and size of this project and conflicting priorities, this project was later shelved.

Assisted start-ups, growth-stage companies, R&D firms, and business incubators with business plans, proposal writing, social media and marketing and basic graphic design.This role included helping to launch a business incubator and an L3C incubator in Rochester, Michigan as well as consult with a variety of businesses on marketing, grants, business plans, and social media through that incubator.

I served in this role while attending college and during a break from school while my Mom had cancer. In this role, I met sales goals; supported customer service; educated coworkers and customers on printers, computers, and furniture; performed merchandising duties including ad sets, stocking, returns, and new planograms; supported management; and trained new employees. Following an additional interview, I was offered the position of Sales Lead and chose to leave to return to school to complete my degree and support my Mom's new business venture part-time.

I was responsible for training employees on our products and services in this department. In this role, I was awarded Employee of the Month. When the store was set for permanent closure, I was tasked with leading and supporting closure activities.

In this role, I served as a lead merchandiser setting planograms, ad sets, and taking inventory. I trained and served as a Warehouse Manager and RMA Clerk back-up. I single-handedly organized the back warehouse inventory and signage organization. When the store was scheduled for permanent closure, I was tasked with coordinating with the liquidation company, inventorying all of the merchandise, display items, and furniture in the store for sale. I was tasked with performing markdowns and selling non-merchandise items by appointment to interested buyers up until full store closure. These responsibilities included secrecy on pricing and markdowns throughout the entire process and working directly with the liquidation company and store manager.
