As Scientific Program Specialist, I am responsible for managing the daily programmatic activities of The Participant Center (TPC) U24 grant award, responsible for the enrollment of direct volunteers to the All of Us Research Program. The grant also provides educational information through trusted partners, and designs and implements strategies to keep participants engaged over the long term. I assess TPC progress towards stated milestones and budgetary goals.I am responsible for overseeing Scripps Research Translational Institute and its vast network of partners, focusing on all aspects of the All of Us Research Program from engagement to outreach, enrollment, participant platform experience, biosampling capabilities, and retention. I provide daily scientific administration for the All of Us Customer Support Center, Sync4Science initiatives, digital health technologies, and related IRB activities. Under my daily management, TPC has obtained an Authority to Operate for its technology platform designed for Direct Volunteers, launched a new blood biosampling partnership scaled throughout the United States, and launched the Wearables Pilot Project to provide Fitbit devices to interested and qualifying Direct Volunteers. In this position, I function as a day-to-day team lead, guiding project planning, decisions, and staff assignments, designing and assigning workloads for TPC Program team staff at the NIH. As a critical member of the All of Us enrollment team, I work collaboratively with other team members to advance the priorities of the entire program. I collaborate regularly with All of Us staff from all divisions to communicate and strategically plan around TPC developments. I also liaise regularly with senior program leadership, and develop and manage productive relationships between TPC team members and All of Us senior staff to proactively address projects, workstreams, and materials and ensure priority alignment.

As the Special Assistant to the Director of the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI), I advanced NHGRI priorities through planning and enacting special projects and initiatives related to NHGRI's mission, as well as managing relationships with other NIH institutes and outside organizations. I was responsible for organizing programs for the Director, preparing written materials, and handling high-level communication on his behalf.

As Program Manager for the NIH Chemical Genomics Center (NCGC), I managed outreach to the scientific and disease foundation community to bring projects into the Center. I also managed all Molecular Libraries Program projects and directed reporting efforts for the Center. I developed maintained a reporting system for NCGC projects, including: Molecular Libraries Initiative biannual reports; probe development plans; probe reports; the Tox21 collaboration with FDA, the National Toxicology Program, and EPA; the TRND program; and collaborative assay projects with external disease foundations. This system of ongoing reports ensured continued funding for all NCGC and TRND initiatives. I also served as Project Manager for NCGC, managing projects and associated deliverables with a network of international collaborators. I advised the NCGC director on program management for the TRND and NIH-RAID programs; interfaced with the public, including academic, industrial and government scientists, as well as leaders of rare disease foundations; arranged consultations with NCGC staff, and managed follow-up correspondence.I served as Project Lead for NCGC participation in Montgomery County educational initiatives, developing activities for students and educational lesson plans for NCGC staff presentations.I liaised with the director of the NHGRI Technology Transfer Office and with the NHGRI Office of Policy, Communication and Education to craft documentation and increase awareness of NCGC and TRND activities.I reviewed and edited manuscripts on NCGC projects to ensure appropriate content, grammar, format, and message. I also wrote, edited, packaged, and submitted grant applications for NIH and outside funding opportunities, and consulted with external collaborators to assist with writing and submitting external grant applications. I served as Executive Secretary for the trans-NIH committee meetings for the TRND program.

As a Science Writer in the Office of Science Policy and Public Liaison at the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB) at the National Institutes of Health, I was responsible for scientific content on the website. Other responsibilities included attending conferences and obtaining scientific videos and pictures from grantees, and subsequently writing descriptions of them for posting on the web; writing descriptions of funded grant programs and projects and posting these on the website; creating a set of web pages for the intramural research program, creating a set of FAQ’s for the website; designing a glossary of bioimaging and bioengineering terms; interacting with members of the scientific community; and attending institute-related scientific meetings.

As a Scientific Program Analyst, I provided scientific support to the Division of Extramural Research in the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI). Applicable projects included working with the NIH Bioengineering Consortium, the NIH Nanomedicine Roadmap Initiative, the NIH Molecular Libraries Roadmap Initiative, the NHGRI technology development program, the International HapMap Consortium, the Ethical, Legal and Social Implications Research program, the Mammalian Gene Collection project, the Centers of Excellence in Genomic Science grant program, and “A Celebration of The Genome,” the NHGRI’s calendar of events marking the completion of the Human Genome Project. Responsibilities included working with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; database creation and maintenance; website content maintenance; graph and chart preparation; preparation of staff presentations; presentation of NHGRI Extramural initiatives; writing and editing letters to be sent from the Office of the Director; coordinating, attending, taking minutes and writing reports for scientific meetings, conferences, and conference calls; researching articles; handling confidential grant information; communication and coordination with NHGRI grantees; maintenance of the NHGRI grantee community ListServ; attending and taking official minutes at meetings of the National Advisory Council for Human Genome Research; public relations with the scientific community of NHGRI; and writing and editing manuscripts. Additional responsibilities included managing other Program Analysts onsite at NHGRI, including training staff, providing periodic work reports, and time accounting approval.
