Associate Translation Project Manager

Remote

A project manager position entails varied responsibilities. Customer communication includes request intake, clarifying source and target languages, clear communication of client’s deadline, project specific parameters, swift communication of turnaround times, promptly informing any delays in production or linguist questions, extension requests, and meeting specific needs. Similarly, working as the liaison with linguists on each project proves a PM’s flexibility in meeting their needs, providing resources, accommodating extensions when necessary, and providing the content in a format in which the linguists can work. Translation project management is unique to each project and requires adaptability and efficient problem-solving skills. Projects involve many different mediums: PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, JSON, InDesign, WAV, WMV, MP4, MP3, and sometimes clients would send audio or video files needing conversion. I worked with MemoQ, a translation software, and Desktop Specialists for file prep and final desktop publishing after translation. Some clients required importing JSON code directly into client dashboards, and adhering to different security protocols for file delivery, including encryption. Working as a team, we manage to fill in the need as deemed necessary, occasionally jumping in for another PM when they’re out of office. Flexibility and relationships are key, along with a propensity for problem solving. As a Project Manager for transcription and translation projects, I maintain and update client-specific translation memories and term bases as necessary, provide detailed vendor feedback working with linguists, and work to facilitate projects within budget and time parameters.

Translator/Transcriber

Remote

Daily Transcription sends the audio file that needs transcribing along with the style guide and the deadline to finish the project. I work to provide efficient transcriptions of the files, formatting the transcript to the specifications set forth by the client for each project, and assure the audio is transcribed either verbatim or paraphrased, according to the instructions given. I assess the file to see if there is a burn in time code that I need to use or if the client articulated a different start time from which I need to gather the time codes throughout the transcript. I carefully listen to the audio, stopping and rewinding as necessary to get an accurate transcription, utilizing the appropriate tags, reviewing my work, and giving it a final pass to ensure accuracy. Once the transcript is completed and approved, I then take the written text and translate it to the target language, running the document through SDL Trados to maintain the desired formatting and layout of the document. This also helps facilitate the translation process by updating the project translation memory as I work and ensuring consistency throughout the translation.

Client Retention Specialist

Remote

As a Client Retention Specialist, I was charged with managing the scheduled appointments on the calendar for three departments. As a point of contact for clients on their accounts, I notated the account with their needs and delegated the tasks to the necessary team members, setting reminders to make sure they were completed in time. I oversaw accounts from acquisition to development, scheduling appointments and conducting interviews with clients to obtain the necessary information to fully develop their account. We created custom-built websites, Google My Business Listings, ad campaigns, client dashboards, and custom IVR greetings for small businesses. I oversaw each step of the process to ensure it was carried out in alignment with the client's needs, facilitating communication and ensuring the delivery our products and service.

Uscis Spanish Interpreter

Remote

The position began as a regular OPI remote interpreter, taking calls that varied from medical, financial, police reports, sworn statements, social services, insurance calls, among many others. After completing the extensive revision process for government clearance, I was quickly promoted and approved to take USCIS Asylum calls just 2 months after being hired. The quality assessment team has consistently given me 100’s on my weekly QA reports and my supervisor recommended me to the training team to be a mentor for the new hires. I began working one on one with the new hires, listening to their calls, giving feedback and working on ways to improve, or troubleshooting technical issues. I would call the trainees to provide advice for improvement on future calls, recommending good practices to maintain ethics and quality interpretation. Eventually the trainers began assigning me multiple new interpreters to work with at once when the other mentors were still working with just one at a time, this was to accommodate larger class sizes. They recognized my ability to multitask and still provide excellent advice and service to different people at once. My supervisor also recommended me to be a Quality Assessor due to consistent high scores on my calls, but the training team needed me to continue working as a mentor for the new hires. I thrived managing even more trainees than before, while simultaneously working with the trainers over an instant chat system to keep them informed of their progress. For the months of October 2020 and January 2021, I was awarded the Superstar Winner, an award given to the highest performing interpreter in that department of the company (a world-wide company) and I continuously receive high Quality Assessment reports.

Spanish Interpreter

Charlotte, North Carolina Area

As a contract interpreter, I managed different assignments at changing locations. I performed consecutive interpreting for patients and providers in clinics and specialty offices. Each assignment required specified terminology along with flexibility on travel to new locations. In working as a contract interpreter, I had to organize and plan my assignments and allot time for different routes daily while recording each visit details to report back to my supervisor.

Bilingual Travel Sales Agent

Aaa

Greensboro/Winston-Salem, North Carolina Area

In the travel agency I created custom vacation packages for clients which included hotel reservations, car rentals, flights, tours, and dinner reservations to facilitate vacation planning and cater to their wants and needs for the trip. I made sure all arrangements were taken care of before travel. I was also the liaison between the clients and vendors if issues arose with flight changes or other unforeseen events that changed the original plans. I personally took charge of finding a solution for my clients. Along with my travel agent duties, I completed the office administrative tasks which consisted of running reports and comparing them to the end of day numbers, verifying all receipts from the day before with the printed reports, completing the daily deposit for the entire office, handling all cash or check intake from the day prior and taking it to the bank, keeping track of inventory, ordering items when necessary and communicating with the accounting department to ensure everything was correct. In this position I also worked with money products which included ordering traveler’s checks, foreign currency, loading prepaid Visa cards, and gift cards. I also helped with issuing international drivers permits and taking regulation passport photos for passport applications. To facilitate working with many individuals, I used the Salesforce program to manage all my clients, set up follow up reminders, create touch-points, and stay up to date with everyone all at once while managing new incoming clients to make sure all needs were met.

Nov 2018 - Dec 2019

Translator And Interpreter

Canteen Market & Bistro

Greensboro/Winston-Salem, North Carolina Area

I worked in conjunction with a few restaurants in the area to translate the HR documents for on-boarding new members that only spoke Spanish. I also provided simultaneous interpreting services when staff meetings took place so the Spanish-speaking team members could be informed of events or updates for the restaurant in real-time along with the other employees. When working on translation projects for the restaurants I would be given documents in the source texts to be translated to the target language. I also worked on preparing translatable text files and forming a translation memory system to help with the cohesion of the texts. I used SLD Trados and SDL Multiterm to assist in the translation process, creating a glossary with Multiterm for the projects and using the Trados program to translate the document and export the translation in the original formatting of the source document.
