I have been in the Education field for over 30 years working in various roles; environmental education, formal classroom education, special education, student success and guidance. Throughout the years, my passion has always been in environmental education and I have always kept a foot in the door by leading eco clubs, taking students on wilderness trips, joining local climate initiatives and growing food and connecting with the local food economy. Through my Master's of Education journey at Lakehead University in Environment & Sustainability I have renewed my passion and commitment to working in the field of climate action and education. The need for change is urgent and I hope to contribute in this next phase of my career, drawing on many years of experience. Education is the key to change; this truth has remained a constant for me over a career working with youth in many capacities. Inspiring, mentoring, and guiding youth toward self-actualization and change-making remains a passion, with a goal of extending this towards working with youth in higher education settings as I phase into my next career. My specific career interests typically land on social equity and inclusion and my goal is to contribute to a more just society through my work.
