Regularly promoted to eventually lead government lobbying for both chambers of Congress and Federal agencies on tax, labor, small business, tobacco, transportation, healthcare, food safety, and financial services issues. I managed a team of outside consultant and coordinated grassroots efforts. Policy campaigns included writing testimony, preparing issue briefs, developing radio ads, and supervising other association public relations activities. I presented at state and national conventions on industry topics and wrote articles for a daily electronic newsletter and a monthly association magazine. I was also very active with our trade association PAC. Through my tenure, we achieved passage of several key legislative initiatives impacting the NACS membership, including but not limited to tax reform, ergonomics, and heath care.

As a professional staff member, I drafted legislation and prepared questions, talking points and briefing books on financial modernization, securities industry, domestic and international banking, credit card industry, transportation, and consumer issues. Working closely with Committee counsel to prepare Chairman for Committee and floor consideration of legislation and collaborating with federal agencies, Committee staff, industry groups and constituents.

As a senior research analyst for six United States Senate races in the 1996 election cycle, I prepared in-depth vote studies, field investigations, press releases and media advisories. Also conducted debate preparation for Senatorial candidates.

Promoted to become the lead analyst for 15 States covering over 140 Congressional races during the 1994 & 1996 cycles. Writing issue briefs, talking points, and one-minute speeches and creating vote studies for Members of Congress and Congressional candidates. Worked closely with Congressional campaigns on their races.

Mayoral Campaign senior staff. Prepared talking points and opposition research while analyzing polling data. Organized direct mailings, campaign volunteers, canvassing efforts, and managed daily headquarters activities.
