I am a user research professional with diverse experience in product research and academic research. I have been responsible for running hundreds of experiments ranging from mobile usability tests to longitudinal neuroimaging studies. Over the past 9 years I have specialized in user research for digital products with successful outcomes for businesses and customers. My unique professional education included psychology, decision sciences, and applied research skills from experimental design to multivariate statistical analysis. Throughout college I worked as a research assistant in the Center for Cognitive Neuroscience, then I worked there full-time as a Duke-UNC BIAC post-baccalaureate research fellow in the Neuroeconomics Lab. I moved to Colorado, starting out as a PhD student and graduating from CU Boulder in 2014 with an all-but-dissertation Master of Science degree from the Leeds School of Business and an advertising certificate from the College of Media, Communication, & Information. Outside of coursework I gained experience conducting surveys and behavioral studies as a research assistant to several Leeds professors. In my post-academic career I began working in market research and design strategy for a couple of local brand experience agencies as well as conducting freelance user research, finding my niche in usability testing for digital products. Later I gained experience in b2c e-commerce UX at a legacy outdoor retail conglomerate where I designed and conducted evaluative and foundational research studies. After that I learned the challenges of promoting user-centered design for b2b SaaS products, while also taking on leadership roles. I helped build and manage a new UX research practice at a tech services start-up accelerator; I led a team of UX designers to become hybrid designer-researchers building internal tools for cable advertising CSMs; and, most recently, I hired and managed a team of senior and staff-level researchers working across new product pillars in the CDP and marketing space.Using my education in experimental design, my research experience, and compassion for all human beings, I aim to serve as an audience expert, usability advocate, and voice of the end-user for every project on which I collaborate.
