About Allison Williams, Ma, Atr, Lmhc, Pmh-C

I am passionate about using art to foster healing and wellness, as well as supporting individual connection to community. I believe that art can also be a powerful tool for advocacy. I also have interests in sustainable living. My family and I are are currently looking to relocate to Washington in order to explore new opportunities to promote social and environmental equity. As a graduate of Marylhurst University’s Masters in Art Therapy Counseling Program, I am qualified to provide "traditional" counseling services as well as art therapy interventions. This program also placed a strong emphasis on developing and implementing treatment groups, which is perhaps my favorite mode of therapy delivery. I incorporate Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy into my practice, and integrate art into individual, group and family therapy when appropriate. I have completed my post-graduate art therapy credentials (Art Therapist, Registered or ATR) and have been working towards professional licensure in Oregon as a registered LPC intern. I am completing my last hours of supervision and will be eligible for licensure in Washington (LMHC) by the end of June. Most of my experience is in working with children, adolescents and families, though I thoroughly enjoy my work with adults too. One area of expertise I am currently developing is working with LGBT clients. I am also working to increase my knowledge of DBT and TF-CBT practices.Specialties/experience: Art Therapy Counseling; Grief & Loss; ADD & ADHD; ODD; Depression, Anxiety, PTSD and stressor related disorders; Stress Management & Coping Skills; Mindfulness; Solution Focused Brief Therapy; Collaborative Problem Solving; Anger management; Prevention; Crisis management; Program development
