Working on a large, multi-site, cluster-randomized intervention trial in Shanghai, China, my role was to facilitate collaboration across international research teams, develop intervention protocols and tools, build capacity among the intervention team, and manage study monitoring and quality control protocols. The Sino Canadian Healthy Life Trajectories Initiative is a Community-Family-Mother-Child intervention study to prevent childhood obesity.

Led research projects in adolescent nutrition and obesity prevention. Designed, conducted, and evaluated research studies: project planning, grant writing, hiring and mentoring staff, creating study materials and instruments, conducting data collection, managing databases, analyzing data, writing manuscripts and reports, and giving presentations. Worked collaboratively and built strong relationships across departments and with community stakeholders to develop and implement research ideas/activities and to successfully execute project objectives.

Conducted quantitative and qualitative research projects in the area of childhood obesity prevention and treatment. Projects focused on improving adolescent health behaviours including diet and physical activity and utilizing population-based approaches.Key skills included project management, survey development and implementation, evaluation, technical writing and editing, statistical analysis, database management, mentorship, public speaking and engagement.
