About Allister John

Client-centered social service professional with extensive experience building customer relationships, delivering wellness services tailored to client needs, desires, and concerns. I am a former personal trainer. My values and practices as a personal trainer directly align with the values of social services: empowering individuals and communities through programming which supports spiritual, emotional, and mental wellness. I not only coached clients on physical fitness, but also advocated holistic wellness. I encouraged clients to care for their mental health through stress management. Also encouraging mindfulness of nutrition and healthy eating. Further, I have previously facilitated workshops on mental health and wellness for the LGBTQ2 Office and the Black Student Support and Engagement Program at Humber College—demonstrating my passion for advocacy and ability to foster connections with marginalized peoples. I am currently a proud and passionate student of Humber College's Social Service Worker diploma program. After graduation, my goal is to transfer to university to pursue a Master's of Social Work degree. The ten year vision I have for myself is dedicated social work at the community level. As an aspiring writer, I began with writing fiction. I have written a romance novel (unpublished) titled The Passion Between Us. My ambition is to write creative nonfiction, using the art of storytelling to capture the profound narratives I have encountered in social services.
