Fiber Curious Club is an organization that encourages creativity & community in the textile arts. We provide high-quality tools, materials, and gifts; playful and innovative workshops; and community crafting events.

I weave on hand looms, piece and sew cloth, and dye fabric and yarn. I specialize in ikat dyeing/weaving, painting and printing on warps, and using natural dyes.I create textile compositions, often using tools and materials that I design, fabricate, or reimagine. I’m inspired by contrasts and contradictions. Finding structure and then deconstructing it. Showing something familiar in an unfamiliar way. Fulfilling the spirit of the assignment without following it to the letter. Work that is meticulously serendipitous or precisely imprecise. I use these contrasts to illuminate the ubiquitous materials that surround us: to uncover their story, communicate their form, and extract their essence.

I collaborated with subject matter experts in engineering, marketing, legal, and customer support to write comprehensive user guides on hardware, software, and services. I championed cross-functional knowledge sharing and data-driven improvements for content optimization.

I was an Instructional Designer for new online course development. I worked with subject matter experts to design and build courses in Canvas. At the UCSC Silicon Valley office, we created high school courses for the UC Scout program and adult continuing education courses for UCSC Extension.

I consulted with Uber’s teams on how to solve business challenges via experimentation and research. Advising on over 400 qualitative and quantitative projects, I taught experimental methods and survey design, statistical analysis, and how to interpret results. In addition to working directly with teams, I wrote research-related articles and instructional materials to serve as self-service educational resources. I also acted as the voice of our users by reviewing materials produced by my colleagues for clarity and usability and rewriting guides based on user input. 
As one of the first hires on a new team, I regularly gave presentations to both stakeholders and new employees to gain buy-in for our process and methods. I developed and maintained strong relationships with teams across the world. The volume of our submissions skyrocketed while I was at Uber, and I maintained the information architecture of our experimental repository and developed systems to track a large volume of ongoing experiments.

I managed the Language and Social Cognition lab of Professor Michael C. Frank for four years. As the first manager of this lab, I established infrastructure and organizational systems, and continued to modify them as the lab grew. I was in charge of the lab's IRB protocols with Stanford and the State of California. I also trained and supervised research assistants, and wrote and maintained our lab's informational wiki.I developed materials for experiments of many types including: digital images with Illustrator and Photoshop; videos with Final Cut Pro and iMovie; audio clips with Audacity; and physical objects such as toys and books. In addition to designing materials to support experiments, I assisted in developing the experimental protocols and scripts for these studies, determining the best way to explain the procedure and research to families that participated.I have experience running studies using a wide range of methods including SMI eye-tracking, our lab-designed head camera, behavioral in-person studies, and websurveys using Amazon Mechanical Turk and Javascript. The participants in the studies were typically developing children under the age of 6, infants and youth on the Autism spectrum, and adults. I ran over 400 participants in more than 12 studies, and assisted in the development and planning of several others.
