I’m a proud Aboriginal yinarr, maternally Gomeroi and paternally Kooma. My roots have given me a deep connection with First Nations people and Country. I grew up on Gayiri Country (Emerald, QLD) and moved to Meanjin (Brisbane, QLD) at the age of nine - though I currently reside in Tarntanya (Adelaide). My Aboriginal culture was withheld from me as a child and throughout my teenage years due to shame, but I've made connections with my mob and exerted myself to learn about who I am as an Aboriginal woman. Currently being a Government worker, I feel confident in administration, cultural awareness, minute taking, KPIs, communication, research and planning, time management, confidentiality processes, extensive record keeping, and problem solving. I work well under pressure and have a knack for making people feel comfortable in conversation. Although my corporate career is quite short, I know I can offer more than surface level skills.I’m currently studying a Bachelor of Art majoring in First Nations Australia at UniSQ on a part-time basis. After working with and for mob for a period of time, I have developed the drive and passion to delve deeper into First Nations studies and open myself to all aspects of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and understanding. I strongly believe in breaking barriers for Indigenous Australians so our songlines can continue for another 65,000 years.
