About Ally O'Donnell

I am a confident and competent communicator with more than seven years of industry experience in the marketing and communications space. My experience is backed by a Bachelor of Management Studies with a double major in marketing and public relations from the University of Waikato, New Zealand, in 2017. Since my arrival to the UK in mid-2023, I have worked in both higher education and non-departmental public body roles which deliver to high-level strategic objectives for each organisation. Most recently, I have the exciting role to bring visibility to the work Salix Finance is doing to support UK public sector organisations towards net zero ambitions, and in so seeing the positive influence that decarbonisation and sustainability projects are having for people and the planet 🌱🌎.My five and a half years of New Zealand-based experience is based in fast-paced e-commerce marketing and local authority environments. In my role working for local government, I gained hands-on experience in crisis communication and emergency management response. This experience was cemented through multiple adverse weather events in New Zealand across 2022 and 2023, and included deployment to Nelson-Tasman to assist with the state of emergency response in August 2022. In February 2023, I acted as PIM (Public Information Management) Manager in a shared capacity with colleagues during Waikato district's response to Cyclone Gabrielle.
