I am passionate about teaching and committed to educational improvement. I have 15 years of teaching experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse youths in both private and public schools in secondary and higher education.Upon coming to America as a refugee, I was identified as an English Language Learner. I understood the challenges of learning to read and write in a foreign culture and educational system. As an English teacher, I believe that every student has the potential to succeed and satisfy learning standards with the appropriate resources, differentiated plans, and mentorship despite their academic labels and disadvantages. I teach students to comprehend and analyze literature with the stages of a hero’s journey so that they can see themselves in the protagonist. The character’s evolution from an unlikely hero to the redeeming qualities of a victor is achievable with the guidance of a mentor and an impassioned spirit for growth and adventure. My goal as an educator and public service employee is to ensure that all students receive quality education and become life-long learners.
