When I was 4, I wanted to become a teacher. Growing up in a family of teachers, I thought that teaching was destined to be my career path. As I continued my education and went to college, I quickly found out that there are many other pathways to working in education. Some of my most memorable experiences during college were working with my peers to solve problems and overcome challenges that came with being a college student. These moments helped me realize my true passion lies within assisting students through the navigation of college. Students deserve support services, staff, and faculty that care about their success in college, and I want to be one of those supporters. Working with students brings me so much joy, and I am lucky to have crossed paths with so many bright and talented individuals. In my time working with students, I have learned a few things about myself and the work I do: 1. Having safe spaces and a community of support (both academic and social) is essential for success in college. 2. Never leave students empty handed. 3. College is more than academics. Nurturing students’ identities and their intersections is as important as class content.
