The How Spirit Moves Us (HSMU) Project is a community based arts project focused on using performance art to celebrate Queer and Trans Black People. Role responsibilities included designing and facilitating curriculum, grant writing and event planning.

Highlights include co-curating the first ever Cal Shakes Theater Stage at Youth Speaks' 8th Annual Life is Living Festival that ngaged about 400 people over the course of the day.

Role includes developing and facilitating performing arts curriculum ( with a specific focus on developing generative work for performance) in various community spaces including Alameda County Juvenile Justice Center, the Cal Shakes Summer Conservatory and local community based organizations and schools.

Role included planning and implement LGBTQ focused events, provide technical and training support for youth in Oakland based Gay Straight Alliance Clubs, supervising Peer Health Educators and co-coordinating the 2nd Annual The Time Is NOW LGBTQIA2-S Youth Summit. This program engaged over 200 young people in the 2014-2015 program year.

Role included supervision of Americorps young adult policy group, The Rise Up Team, developing political education/consciousness raising curriculum for members and staff, co-coordinating Queers&Allies LGBTQ staff workgroup, supporting grant writing efforts, organizing civic engagement efforts as well as developing and coordinating youth leadership program YU LEAD.
