I graduated from Appalachian State University (Boone, NC) in May 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in Communications:Public Relations and a minor in Business. I went on to earn a Masters of Business Administration in Organizational Leadership from the University of Findlay in December 2013. My most recent professional experience was at Marathon Petroleum Company as a Supplier Diversity professional in Global Procurement (Purchasing), but I also managed a brand marketing territory for Marathon for about 4 years before moving over to Procurement to broaden my experience. In 2016, I made the decision to step away from my career and stay home with my children. During my time at home, I have worked in a variety of part time positions including a sales role at a gym, as well as substitute teaching. I am interested in remote opportunities in the Marketing, Communications, and Supplier Diversity (Procurement) fields. I supported Marathon Petroleum Company's Corporate Supplier Diversity Intiative. Supplier Diversity is a proactive business initiative that provides potentially underserved business enterprises equal access to opportunities with MPC and Speedway. The goal is to provide diverse business enterprises the opportunity to compete on an equal basis with all other suppliers focusing on developing and strengthening relationships with suppliers that will support our competitive strength into the future.
I served as the main contact and liaison between Marathon’s district office management team and a diverse territory of petroleum distributors fielding daily inquires and requests, and autonomously managing areas of concern. I conducted detailed customer planning meetings bi-annually to discuss and evaluate performance related to volume growth, and image goals, as well as current contract terms and expirations, customer succession planning (as applicable), training opportunities, and discussing market intel. During my time in this role, I successfully negotiated two 7 year contract extensions that collectively secured nearly 60 MM gallons of unencumbered gas and distillate volume for Marathon. I assisted with the sale of 7 Marathon owned retail locations to Marathon distributors or Speedway, and managed Marathon brand image improvements across 152 branded locations. These improvements lead to an overall increase in mystery shop scores across my customer base year over year through effective communication, negotiation, and implementation of brand image improvements.
