In this role, I developed and led DEI strategy for the technology organizations in Amazon Worldwide Consumer, including Amazon Robotics, the eCommerce group, IT, and the Core AI function. I managed a team of four DEI professionals driving cross-organizational strategies and mechanisms in support of twelve vice presidents and a tech community of over 15,000 employees in half a dozen countries. I partnered with senior leaders in HR, Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, and Employee Experience to develop and deploy solutions that achieve Amazon’s ambitious diversity, equity, and inclusion goals. I also represented the tech community on the Worldwide Consumer DEI leadership team.

As Senior DEI Business Partner for Amazon Robotics, I developed and led DEI strategy for an advanced technology organization with thousands of employees spread across six countries, with functions ranging from deep science to advanced manufacturing and from mature businesses to newly acquired start-ups. I served as the senior DEI advisor for four vice presidents and their leadership teams; I partnered with leaders in HR, Talent Acquisition, and Talent Management to design, deploy, and scale mechanisms to drive a more diverse workforce, a more inclusive culture, and more equitable opportunities and outcomes.

As a portfolio lead, I managed a team of diversity and inclusion consultants, project managers, analysts, and associates responsible for half of Cook Ross' active clients, focused primarily on those in the technology, engineering, and financial services sectors. I directly managed some of the company's largest, most complex clients, including two of the ten largest banks in the U.S., a top ten global retailer, two of the nation's premier research laboratories, and two of the most recognized brands in the world. I managed a team that included six direct reports plus matrixed team members and contractors. In my first year on the job, I redesigned Cook Ross' approach and methodology for assessing workplace climate and culture, resulting in yearly revenues five times those projected for this service, and leading to the establishment of the company's assessment, analytics, and strategy line of business.

As a senior consultant, I led Cook Ross' work with many of its most important clients in the technology, engineering, and financial services industries. I served as a trusted advisor to CEO's, chief diversity officers, and HR leaders, providing guidance on DEI strategy, change management, and culture design. I led matrixed teams of four to six practitioners in the design, development, delivery, and evaluation of DEI strategies and solutions. I also designed and delivered customized learning solutions in cultural competence and unconscious bias mitigation in talent acquisition, performance management, and succession planning. Internally, I served as Cook Ross's QA/QC program lead, and headed up the organization's process optimization workgroup.

As the founder and principal of Warrior Poet Strategies, I led the firm in our mission to help leaders and organizations operationalize their inclusive values, with a focus in DEI strategy, policy, and change management. I led projects with the Department of Defense, intelligence agencies, and tech sector clients on DEI change management and building inclusive culture, and developed customized learning solutions in cultural competence, inclusive management practices, and religious diversity in the workplace.

As the Executive Director of OutServe-SLDN, I provided executive leadership for an LGBTQ+ military servicemember and veterans’ advocacy organization with 12 staff and 60 chapters in 14 countries. I built formal and informal advisory relationships on complex, politically sensitive diversity issues with leaders in the White House, Congress, and the Department of Defense. I assembled a coalition of advocacy, legal, research, and funding organizations to advance inclusive culture in the Department of Defense after the repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," and served as the organization's primary spokesperson, appearing regularly in broadcast media on issues impacting inclusion in the U.S. military, such as benefits equity for lesbian and gay military families.
