Since (2007), I have actively engaged in university/community collaborations that have led me to understand the importance of providing outstanding leadership in university and educational settings. The most fulfilling work I have participated in was being part of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation at UNM, where I participated in community-based research and the recruitment and retention of new student cohorts. Helping students realize their academic and career goals is something I plan to continue throughout my career path in education.In my current role, I support the instructional and curriculum development/design and coordination for the Pathway Program at the University of Arizona – College of Medicine in downtown Phoenix. Pathway is a Master of Medical Studies program that aims to drive diversity in the physician workforce by supporting underrepresented students in preparing to become leaders in Medicine. My role focuses on coordinating the delivery of instructional material through various learning management systems and supplemental study websites and facilitating learning and development sessions. I am also a passionate and dedicated Sociology and Criminology professor. My teaching philosophy centers on fostering inclusivity, excellence, and innovation in the classroom. Facilitating engaging material that caters to all learning styles is my driving force. In addition, I am passionate and highly knowledgeable about helping students identify, understand, and develop their learning styles. Our student population will be lifelong learners; thus, I focus on inspiring confidence and healthy test-taking approaches. My extensive experience has focused on student success roles aiming to help students achieve their higher education goals, whether in a master’s program, on a Ph.D. track, or pursuing a medical degree. Moreover, I support student development in my current role and am ACUE-certified (Association of College and University Educators).
