I'm a manager and a software engineer with 20 years of experience, during which I have taken on leadership, management and technical roles. I'm the CIO of the Iberian holding Grupo Totalmedia, which is now a part of Rhenus Home Delivery, European leader in the home delivery business.I'm driven by innovation, adoption of best practices and technologies to achieve great productivity and quality standards, digital transformation, and optimal budget management.I discovered the passion for programming at an early age, making computer games for spectrum, something that steered many decisions through my life. After high school, I graduated in Computer Engineering at Instituto Superior Técnico. In 2004 I joined Tecmic, a tech company focused on building mission-critical software and hardware for Fleet Management Solutions on big clients, with great focus on scalability, performance, and modular architecture. Worked with a talented team, on a broad range of projects, from software applications for mobile, web and server, including database design and infrastruture tuning. Had relevant contributions also on the team productivity, such as creating tools for automatic code generation.. Over a decade at Tecmic, my roles evolved from a full-stack software engineer to an architect, team leader, and project manager. In order to reinforce my knowledge and develop further my management skills, on 2012 I enrolled in an MBA, the LisbonMBA program at Católica/Nova, which I completed in 2014.Shortly after, started working as IT Manager at Esporão SA, a well-know wine producer. There, I reported to the CIO and encountered leaders with extensive backgrounds in the Big 4 consulting firms, fostering a culture of excellence. My responsibilities were broad on IT, created a development team from scratch, its processes, and implemented many projects, for instance on e-commerce, CRM, Business Intelligence, machine learning or networking & infrastructure.In 2021, I became the CIO at Grupo Totalmedia, a holding of six companies in the logistics and distribution sector operating in Portugal and Spain. Here, I managed and launched two very large software systems, created a Project Management Office, implemented a comprehensive Software Management Process, renegotiated and optimized major contracts with suppliers with significant cost reduction (sometimes as much as 50%). Implemented also structural projects such as cloud migration, BI warehouse design, automated extraction and PowerBI reports, PowerApps to digitalize processes, among others.
