I assisted with miscellaneous tasks around the lab with Dr. Laraoui and graduate students. I also worked independently, where I designed parts using SolidWorks and developed the lab's research website. Other technical skills I learned were cutting, milling, and building parts for optical table sets for lasers and other equipment. Overall, while gaining more technical engineering experience, I was also able to work in a team to complete goals set forth by our PI, Dr. Laraoui, as the lab was in the early stages of growth.

As an ESS office assistant, I was in charge of the entry area and welcomed visitors in a professional and courteous manner, which greatly helped me improve my communication skills. I would often provide accurate information for our visitors, and I also directed visitors to the appropriate campus resources and personnel. I was also in charge of coordinating schedules and meetings involving multiple calendars for students and staff.Through this position, I was both reliable and detailed oriented in order to be successful, and I greatly improved my customer service and organizational skills.

As a peer mentor, I advised and helped assimilate international students in one-on-one meetings about academic success and campus involvement. I also helped develop programs to engage students on and off-campus, which required great organizational skills and my involvement on campus.

As a TA for the International Student Success Seminar Class, I prepared presentations for students to help introduce them to various skills that would help them succeed in college. As a lecturer on skills like time management, communication, organization, and more, I also was able to better implement these into my daily routines. I also helped students engage with campus and become familiar with resources.
