At the Department of Soil Biophysics and Environmental Systems, I coordinated an EU proposal for a multi-actor agroecology project investigating perennial crops in living agroforestry labs across Europe. I managed communication and deadlines and finalized the project budget for a consortium of 10 partners European and African partners, including farmers, scientists, and education and outreach specialists. I also compiled and synthesized partner texts, helping to write the final proposal.

I conducted one-on-one tutoring sessions with staff, faculty, and students at the Technical University of Munich to improve their English writing skills. I also delivered writing workshops, developed lecture materials, and graded assignments for English C1 and C2 courses. I completed didactic training within this position, which included job shadowing, online coursework, a pedagogical workshop, and an advanced writing workshop. Additionally, I created promotional materials (e.g., social media posts and posters) to increase client engagement.

At the Department of Soil Biophysics and Environmental Systems, I designed and executed isotopic labelling experiments to investigate how soil moisture affects water transport through mycorrhizal fungi to a host plant (maize). I presented my results at the 2024 EGU General Assembly in Vienna and the German Ecological Society's 53rd Annual Conference in Freising.

I assisted in home renovation, restoration, and new construction. Projects included framing, drywalling, wood and linoleum flooring, ceramic tiling, door/window installation, house siding, trim work, and painting.

I developed CRISPR reagents for gene knock-out to illuminate functional relationships in the mitochondrial carrier system. Lab work included sgRNA development, bacterial cloning, cell culture, and PCR analysis.

I created an Excel platform to collect data from honors students’ experiential learning assignments, designed surveys in Qualtrics Survey Platform, and copyedited honors students’ personal essays for blogging.

I tutored undergraduate students one-on-one to improve their essay assignments and writing processes. Training included a 3-semester hour course (Honors Writing Fellows: Writing Theory & Practice) to learn writing pedagogy and tutoring practices.

I led orientation groups and facilitated one-on-one meetings to inform admitted students and parents about University of Iowa Honors Program requirements and opportunities.

I assisted in projects investigating freshwater nitrogen-cycling microorganisms, urban aquaponics systems, and phytoremediation properties of poplar trees. Lab work included ion chromatography and poplar sapling cultivation. I presented a poster entitled "Design Considerations for Small Scale Urban Aquaponics" at the University of Iowa 2014 Fall Undergraduate Research Festival.

I worked with graduate students to develop and test mitochondria-targeted small molecules for the imaging and therapy of skin cancer. Lab work included cell culture, microscopy, flow cytometry, and cytotoxicity experiments. I presented a poster entitled "A New Small Molecule Therapy for Metastatic Melanoma" at the University of Iowa 2014 Summer Undergraduate Research Conference.

I conducted experiments within a multi-cultural team to investigate morphological and chemical differences in differentiating and proliferating muscle stem cells. Lab work included cell culture and western blot experiments.
