Upon my 1985 graduation from Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts, I followed a pre-vet/pre-med science track while working as a Resident Assistant at Louisiana State University where I discovered I really loved teaching. I rearranged my courses and proceeded to complete a Bachelors degree in Chemistry Education. I started teaching Chemistry, and I never looked back. I continued my education to support science education by earning my Masters degree in Science Curriculum and Instruction and later earned certification as a paramedic. I also have a Texas. Educational Leadership certification.I have over thirty years of classroom experience in addition to working across the arts as an actor, writer, costume designer/seamstress, and the human partner to an equine performer. My teaching career includes both traditional and non-traditional teaching classroom settings. While I have not spent my career with highly motivated students, my time with At-Risk learners allowed me to develop a deep teacher tool kit from which to creatively teach Chemistry to any student in my classroom. Further, many of my students wearing the At-Risk label are exceptionally academically capable, but they were not getting what they needed from their traditional district high schools.I earned the district Teacher of the Year award once and the campus award twice. In addition, I have co-founded a murdery mystery company here in Houston, Get A Clue Mysteries.
