Learning can become a personal, interactive, and collaborative experience between teachers and students. I work with teachers to bring their classrooms to life with increased inquiry, problem based learning, and challenging activities. The science focused curriculum and professional development produced through the Arizona Science Center introduces educators to a more authentic, relevant, and interactive style of teaching, drawing students into increasingly deeper connections to understanding. I assist teachers directly in their classroom through model lessons and coaching. During these sessions, we collaborate to streamline the use of technology and increase the level of student participation. I am excited to join the Center for Learning and Leadership at the Arizona Science Center and lead teachers to a renewed enthusiasm for working with their students.

As a STEM Instructor, I work with teachers in after school science programs. We lead students in the discovery process by using techniques in scientific inquiry, technology, engineering, and math. In the educational setting, I am a facilitator and mentor. I step back and encourage teams to become problem solvers. Additionally, I will fostering relationships with professionals in order to develop mentoring relationships with SySTEM students or to provide expertise in areas of study. Finally, field study and experiences are an integral part of the program at SySTEM. By developing connections to the STEM community, I will develop these field experiences allowing are SySTEM students to experience and study STEM careers and working environments. I taught three sections of Physical Science and two sections of Chemistry. I experimented with Flipping my classroom and I was a traveling teacher. I relied heavily on Edmodo to build assignments and deliver content. In order to survive as a traveling teacher, Edmodo allowed me to plan and modify daily work sometimes minutes before I entered a classroom. I also used Explain Everything and Eudcreations to build content related videos that students could utilize to enhance their understanding of the information. I used Youtube to present "Inquiry Quest" videos that presented topics to students.

I taught 7th Grade Science (Earth Science) with a focus on inquiry and discovery as opposed to direct instruction. In 2009, I became a Nevada Pathway Teacher involving the use of technology in the classroom. Within the next 2.5 years, my students developed collaborative skills in research and modeling using Google Apps for Education, Web 2.0 tools, and wireless tools including iPods and laptops. The technology enabled my classroom to become student driven instead of instructor focused. Likewise, my students became active discovers instead of passive learners. I also began presenting my methods to other teachers in the district through workshops.

I worked as a season field technician to recover and research vertebrate fossils from the monument.

As a paleontological resource monitor, I recovered vertebrate fossils from construction sites.

I held several positions at the museum including, planetarium console operator, live animal technician, and Museum School Instructor. I also volunteered with the museum on collecting trips through the southeastern United States, Texas, and Mexico.
