I'm no longer with FirstLook/MAX. The reason being that they simply wanted the team to all be located in Austin, TX and moving from Colorado wasn't in our plan. So I'm building an app called Felt. It's for people who want to send hand written cards from their iPads, Kindle Fires, iPhones, and other Android devices. We'll actually print and mail the cards so our customers don't have to hassle with getting stamps and going to the store to buy cards.

Co-Founder / Vice President

Addison, Tx, Us

I have done just about everything at SiSTeR. My passions, however, are for marketing and product development. A quick overview of my accomplishments in different disciplines. Business Development: I build new and maintain existing relationships with the organizations who use our video creation platform. They typically need an in depth technical training, product training and marketing materials. I enjoy the entire process with an exceptional attraction to the beginning of the relationship where I can listen closely to our partner and then help connect points of synergy. I enjoy this because it allows me to be creative and think about what's best for both of us and then use my communication skills to achieve the "ah ha" moment.Marketing: Along with business development I also lead our marketing initiatives. These include our website (being updated Q4 2010), our social sites (Facebook friend list is growing 20% month over month) and sales support material (from training and competitive analysis to 1 pager leave behinds).Product Development: I love the idea that everything begins with a remarkable product. From that foundation so many other great innovations have the opportunity to bloom. I currently lead the product development of our TrueVoice and Data Tree technology which can be considered the central nervous system for video creation; everything that ends up rendered into the video usually originates inside these systems.

Product Development

Addison, Tx, Us

One of my passions is building remarkable products. At SiSTeR, I lead the innovation of our TrueVoice technology (our automated human voice). Past product innovations include: - Pic2Vid. We started by editing full motion video online using a web application and a server video rendering application that we built from scratch. The problem was no one had video back in 2003, so the innovation was to convert pictures into video instead. This is still SiSTeR's #1 product. - Telephony to Text to Speech. Originally we thought to use a person's voice recorded via a telephone system (similar to leaving a voice mail). The problem was we created a bottle neck b/c now shipping our videos was dependent on a person recording the voice. The innovation was using a Text-to-Speech engine to compliment the process and allow us to automatically create videos without a human bottle neck. Many more innovations were needed to create a quality, sound since the TTS engine was a computer synthesized voice. - Video Inserts. We had hundred of thousands of videos playing of pre-owned vehicles for sale. We knew where the consumer's were looking so the innovation was to have relevant messages appear which could have interactivity so the consumer could email, click to watch a video about the warranty, about the certification process the vehicle underwent, etc. GM launched a pilot and CARFAX saw a 43% increase in clicks to their reports once advertised in the videos!

Product Development

Addison, Tx, Us

During this year or so I worked along side every member of our company as I was leading the rebuild of our platform and video product. Our goal was to create the best, most remarkable product and when I asked what our mission statement should be, Austin Marshall contributed, "sell more cars" (our customers were in the automotive industry), we were rebuilding a platform and here was our CTO thinking from our customer's shoes - he made my job possible. One of the biggest differences was that our new product would use human voice where our old one used text-to-speech. This was quite a task seeing how there was no human involvement - we were designing the system with capacity to create more than 1,000,000 valuable videos a month! Yeah - funnest thing I've been paid to do!Our three largest milestones were 1) develop a knowledge system that would store data in such a way that we could make thousands of decisions related to the data's characteristics, relationship to other assets and an overall value to a consumer 2) migrate our video rendering application from a traditional co-lo hosting environment to Amazon's Cloud and build an entire management layer for our operations department so they could monitor video creation, publication and distribution, and 3) to invent a video timeline assembly process that enabled us to synchronize the audio and video tracks together so we could have a visual cue appear when you heard a specific word or phrase in the video. We succeeded in accomplishing our goal and as a result we doubled the number of resellers, were awarded the largest single contract I know of for our specific product type and In less than 6 months we re-invented a niche that we pioneered 6 years earlier! I have the original project plan framed on my wall.

Inside Sales

Addison, Tx, Us

I was part of our inside sales team. I cold called prospects, set appointments, demonstrated our products value and maintained the accounts that I built. I learned a tremendous amount during this time and was extremely lucky to work with amazingly smart and experienced individuals who taught me about simplicity, presentation skills and how to connect ideas for a customer so they "get it" in a short amount of time.

Sep 2002 - Apr 2007

Sales Representative

Olean, New York, Us

Outside sales of the worlds finest cutlery. I learned the social networking business at the tender age of 18. Their model was to recruit high school students that were old enough so a percentage of them were motivated by things like money for college and then they trained them on scripts and most important, they armed them with a remarkable product. A product which sold itself and simply needed a personal introduction to the neighborhood's families. I thought that was a brilliant plan.
