Following a year as a Student Ambassador, I was promoted to Senior Student Ambassador. Many of my responsibilities were similar, especially working with other ambassadors and representing Swansea University. Some of the duties I undertook as a Senior Student Ambassador were:-Speaking to prospective students to the Welsh department during virtual open days.-Taking part in a live virtual Question&Answer session on a panel with other ambassadors and staff members.-Hosting an Instagram takeover on the University’s account.-Creating videos explaining the history of Santes Dwynwen Day for the Student Ambassadors’ Instagram account.-Hosted a webinar for a sixth form college which included giving a presentation and answering questions.-Speaking to prospective students during a webinar for the College of Arts and Humanities.-Working with other members of staff during the Lateral Flow Covid-19 testing on the University’s campuses before the Christmas period of 2020.-Translated and recorded Welsh and English versions of virtual campus tours for both Singleton and Bay campus.

As a digital ambassador, I worked closely with the University’s Social Media&Marketing team by creating Welsh-medium content, digital content and vlogs for Swansea University’s website and social media pages. I hosted several Instagram takeovers and Question&Answer sessions for prospective students to ask any questions. I also created several vlogs for the University’s social media pages, mainly discussing the Welsh-medium provisions at Swansea University.

My main responsibilities as a Student Ambassador were representing Swansea University at various events and working closely with other student ambassadors and members of staff. This opportunity has enabled me to develop my interpersonal skills and has led me to several more opportunities.The main duties I undertook were:-Speaking to prospective students during Open Days.-Open Day Campus Tours.-Assisting with Direct Mail Packaging to send packages to prospective students.-Talking with prospective students via the Unibuddy function.-Assisting with the Young Scribblers Tour organised by the Hay Festival.-Creating videos for Open Days discussing the Welsh medium provisions at Swansea University.-Hosting a ‘Student Diary’ instagram takeover during the Covid-19 pandemic.-Assisting with Applicant Days and Clearing.

As a Postgraduate Ambassador for the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol, a big part of my role is working with other ambassadors and staff members to develop the Welsh medium postgraduate community at Swansea University, and throughout Wales as a whole. Some duties I have undertaken in this role include recording a podcast discussing my experience as a PhD student; writing blogs about my role as an ambassador; promoting the Coleg's events especially their Research Skills Programme (Rhaglen Sgiliau Ymchwil); as well as working with the Coleg at the National Eisteddfod and at the Urdd Eisteddfod.

As the General Secretary of the Students’ Union, I work closely with the other officers to improve student experience at Swansea University. I attend monthly Executive Committee meetings which is a chance to get involved with campaigns, discuss ideas with others and catch up with what the other officers have been organising.During Welcome Week, I assisted other officers by handing out Welcome Packs for students on both campuses. I have also worked closely with the Welsh Affairs Officer by hosting a ‘Tea and Talk’ campaign to mark World Mental Health Day and creating a Welsh-medium document detailing mental health support available for Welsh-medium students at Swansea University.One of my main roles as General Secretary is upholding democracy within the Students’ Union. Therefore, I assist with Student Forums and the Annual General Meeting to discuss any issues that may arise and to give students the chance to give feedback.

I have been a member of the Welsh society since starting studying at Swansea University and it has been a vital part of my University experience. As Vice-President of the society, I work with other members of the committee and the Students’ Union Welsh Affairs Officer to organise events for members, to ensure they are able to socialise and get to know other Welsh speakers in Swansea University. Being on a society’s committee during a year where we have not been able to organise many in-person events has been a challenge, but as a committee we have overcome these challenges by hosting several various virtual events and a few in-person events when we were able to do so.

As an ambassador for the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol on behalf of Swansea University's branch of the Coleg, my main duty, alongside other ambassadors from Swansea University and other Universities across Wales, was to encourage others to study through the medium of Welsh at University level. During the year, I gained a lot of experience by making great use of social media and technology to communicate the importance and the advantages of studying through the medium of Welsh, for example by recording podcasts, holding Instagram takeovers and taking part in virtual fairs.

Working as a shop assistant in Siop Tŷ Tawe, Menter Iaith Abertawe has allowed me to gain more customer service experience by communicating with customers and co-workers in the shop and also in community events.As part of an organisation that promotes the Welsh language in the Swansea area, my role included encouraging learners to practice their Welsh by speaking with visitors to the Menter in Welsh.

As a relief catering assistant, I mainly work in residential homes in Ceredigion. My main responsibilities include preparing food, cleaning the kitchen facilities and working with other members of staff as well as working on my own. I have gained many skills, such as working under pressure and within certain time limits.

Working at Lloyds of Lampeter provided me with a great experience of working in a busy customer service environment. I developed many skills, including communication, working as a team and working individually. By working alongside my GCSE and A Level studies, my time management also developed.As Duty Manager, I was responsible for the staff on duty, which included ensuring everybody was prepared for the shift and training new employees.

Whilst being an ambassador for Urdd Gobaith Cymru within Ysgol Bro Pedr, my main role was to encourage other pupils to get involved with the various activities organised by the Urdd and to take part in activities through the medium of Welsh. During the first local round of the Urdd Eisteddfod and during the Regional Eisteddfod, I assisted by stewarding throughout the day.I worked closely with the other ambassadors in the school, as well as ambassadors from other schools in Ceredigion and the Urdd staff to help promote regional and national events and to discuss ideas on how to promote the Urdd within our schools.
